Ilan Peleg, "Models of Israeli-Palestinian Peace"
The lecture will offer analysis of alternative peace plans for a peaceful resolution of arguably the single most difficult conflict of the modern era, the one between Israelis and Palestinians (and, more generally, between Israel and Arabs). Presenting a broad historical perspective (accompanied by maps), the lecture will discuss the pros and cons of two particularly popular models under discussion, the so-called Two-State Solution, and the increasingly supported One-State Solution. The 40-minute presentation will be followed by a 20-minute Q&A. Audience members are encouraged to ask questions and offer observations.

Prof. Ilan Peleg served in the past as President of the Association for Israel Studies, the leading academic organization for the study of Israeli culture, history, and politics. He is the Founding Editor-in-Chief of Israel Studies Forum (now Review), the scholarly publication of the AIS. Peleg is the author of numerous books, including Democratizing the Hegemonic State (2007) and Israel’s Palestinians: The Conflict Within (2011), both published by the prestigious Cambridge University Press. His other books deal with Human Rights in the West Bank and Gaza, the Arab-Israeli peace process, censorship in the world, bi-nationalism, the political career of Menachem Begin, the foreign-policy of George W. Bush, and other important political issues. The holder of the Charles A. Dana Chair in Government and Law at Lafayette College, Prof. Peleg has appeared in numerous venues, including CNN, Voice od America, and National Public Radio.
